FDS is an active and involved
Affiliate Member of the Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC). This provides all FDS Customers indirect access to the advocacy and education IFIC provides to the industry. It also assists FDS in being up-to-date on all industry initiatives and regulation changes that may impact our Customer’s businesses.
FDS President Ronald C. Landry is currently a
Member of the IFIC Accounting Advisory Working Group. The Group mandate is to make recommendations to the IFIC Board or a sub-committee of the Board and provide advice to IFIC Staff relating to accounting issues impacting the investment funds industry generally and to develop, where appropriate, standard industry positions.
FDS Executive Vice President & COO Dennis E. MacPherson is a long-standing
Member of the FundSERV Standards Steering Committee (SSC). The SSC is established by the FundSERV Board of Directors to advise the Corporation on the strategic direction of workflow management, systems and related standards for business transactions that would benefit from standardization. The Committee utilizes an evaluation model to select, review and prioritize new initiatives. The SSC provides direction to the Electronics Standards Group (ESG), the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Policy Group, and the Mandatory Standards Committee. The SSC has the authority to establish working groups as circumstances dictate.
Additionally, Mr. MacPherson is a long-standing
Member of the Investment Dealers Association (IDA) Financial Administrators Section (FAS) Mutual Fund Sub-Committee. The section deals with financial administration matters affecting Members. These include matters affecting the fairness, efficiency and competitiveness of Canadian capital markets that relate to the capital and operations of Members.
This type of participation is about much more than simply staying informed. It allows FDS to lead change and implement electronic and business processes for the industry, ultimately for the benefit of our Customers.
